Animal Education for primary schools
Based in Yorkshire, we provide animal education workshops throughout the UK including Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, South Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Warwickshire, Manchester and Birmingham. We also offer children’s party packages.
Our animal workshops include; primary school workshops for Keystage 1 (KS1) and Keystage 2 (KS2), and simple hands-on sessions for pre-school children, nurseries, SEN schools and other organisations. Children learn about animals in a safe and controlled environment, with opportunities to handle mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and mini-beasts.
Why choose Meet A Creature?
We’re flexible. We’ll tailor our workshops to your needs, whether that’s illustrating a particular topic or adapting the length of sessions to fit around your pupil numbers or school schedule. Just contact us to discuss your requirements. We also offer additional activities from animal-themed games, to working as a team to create a food web, plus teaching resources linked to our workshops.
We’re safe and experienced. Meet A Creature has been delivering fully risk-assessed animal workshops in schools since 2010. We have an excellent record for child safety and animal welfare and lots of recommendations from schools. Our prices are not always the cheapest but they reflect the quality of our service. (When booking an animal workshop you should always check the provider’s public liability insurance document to make sure you are fully covered).
How much does it cost?
Please contact us to discuss a perfect package for your class or school. Our competitive prices start from £199 plus travel.
How do I make a booking?
It’s quick and easy by email, contact form, phone or Facebook (details below). We’re happy to be contacted during the day, or in the evening or weekend. We’ll confirm everything by email and supply an invoice and risk assessment.
What happens on the day?
We arrive in good time to give your pupils a fantastic animal-handling experience. Our rangers will bring their DBS document and ID for you to check. We even have a special gift for the staff member who makes the booking!
Do I need to provide anything?
We need enough space for pupils to sit on the floor so that they can handle the animals safely with no chance of dropping them. We’d also like you to tell us if any children have additional needs so we can make sure they are able to fully enjoy the animal experience.

Common questions answered…
How much does it cost?
We offer great value for money because we tailor our service to your exact requirements. Our prices start from just £199 plus a small mileage cost from our base at DN10 4SF. Many schools choose us as an alternative to a school trip – our visit costs far less than hiring transport and is much easier for you to organise.
Are your animals safe?
Our animals have been handled regularly and so are very relaxed around people. They have also been selected for their safety – we won’t bring venomous snakes or any animals which are likely to bite.
What happens if children are scared?
We offer every child the opportunity to handle the animals, however our Rangers are sympathetic to fears and phobias and no-one is ever pressurised into getting up close if they would rather watch from a distance.
