From Pixar to DreamWorks, furry stars have been a popular choice for the greatest kid-friendly movies of the last decade. This is a result of the worldwide appeal that animals have, both to children and adults alike. The cute-factor has been a winning formula for many studios to portray deep stories in an accessible way to children.
But, your children don’t have to watch a movie to enjoy their favourite characters! Here at Meet A Creature we have a whole cast of characters that have wandered straight off the big screen for your children to meet!
An Academy Award winner (for Best Animated Feature) Rango was a hit in 2011 and rumours of a sequel have been rampant for some time. It’s a quirky film – a western starring a chameleon – starring talents such as Johnny Depp and Isla Fisher. The story is about a household pet finding itself in the world at large and having to adapt to the differences he faces. It is a ‘fish out of water’ story, with a chameleon lead. It sends the perfect message to children about adapting to one’s environment (a particular talent of chameleons).
Here at Meet A Creature we have our very own Rango. His name is Marcel, a cute little panther chameleon who can change his colour at a whim and hang onto trees with the power of his tail alone. Just like a Sheriff, this little character can keep his eyes on everyone by moving each eyeball independently.
If you like life at a slower pace, then Turbo is not the movie for you. Starring a snail that dreams of being the fastest alive, it is a tale of dreaming big and working hard to achieve those dreams. Received positively, this Ryan Reynolds feature even spawned a Netflix series that has been enjoyed by children worldwide.
Our resident Giant African snail lives a slower paced life than his movie counterpart. Steve, or Stevette as snails can be both a girl and a boy, is only young and will grow quite a bit larger. Your children will love the amazing personality this little slowpoke has!
Here at Meet A Creature, we have a host of movie stars for your little ones to meet – and would love to chat with you about how our animal workshops for schools or children’s parties can excite your children to learn about these fascinating creatures. For further details, why not get in touch today?
